David Pratt Demarest

David Pratt Demarest, 1940-present, is a long-time programmer, former Global Application Steward at First Data and former owner and manager of Next Level, Inc, a database application development firm. David is the current Founder/CEO of Roads to Freedom Foundation, LLC, a non-profit corporation formed to promote liberty-oriented conventions and events to further the cause of freedom.

Other accomplishments include a private pilot license, BS-MIS and MS-MIS degrees from Bellevue University earned after age 65, and successful completion of 71 marathons with six Boston Marathon qualifying times and a personal best of 3:15:16 at age 48. On the political front, David is the Region 6 Representative on the Libertarian National Committee for seven upper Midwest states, Treasurer of the Libertarian State Leadership Alliance, board member and Nebraska State Coordinator for the Libertarian Party Radical Caucus, and former Libertarian Party of Nebraska Vice-Chair and Secretary. David has recently launched a full-time political economy writing career, both fiction and non-fiction, with a focus on Austrian Economics and freedom from a Voluntaryist Libertarian perspective. His literary priority is the ‘Invisible Handshake’ series of action-packed novels inspired by Ayn Rand’s ‘Atlas Shrugged’ but based on David’s ‘Invisible Handshake’ competitive governance political philosophy hypothesis that extends Adam Smith’s ‘Invisible Hand’ theory to encompass the broader free-market of all human interactions, the Golden Rule, the Non-Aggression Principle and assertive behavior based on win-win mutually-beneficial negotiation and economic and social ostracism/reinforcement feedback.

David is first and foremost a Big Picture innovative thinker and student of Praxeology, the science of human action and decision-making in the tradition of Ludwig von Mises. He loves ideas, thinking outside the box, logical deep-dive root-cause analysis, figuring out why people do things, solving problems, getting stuff done, and translating Big Picture ideas into innovative Big Picture solutions designed to alleviate governance and societal dysfunctions. In addition to David’s writing career, he has dedicated the rest of his life to build the Roads to Freedom Foundation into a full-fledged, world-class international employee-owned non-profit foundation. The non-profit will feature a comprehensive Patrick Henry Action Agenda designed to inspire and empower activists. The foundation will also include the Ralph Waldo Emerson Institute designed to provide practical action-agenda activist training, challenging courses for principle-oriented intellectuals and cutting-edge seminars to develop candidates for his pet project, the Henry David Thoreau Think Tank. The foundation goal is not to build an empire but rather to build freedom under the banner of the foundation’s and David’s personal motto “Freedom. Nothing. More, Nothing More, Nothing Less”, for all people, in collaboration with the broad spectrum of open tent liberty-leaning causes with a focus on the Libertarian Party, the Libertarian National Committee and the Libertarian movement.
